Cultpix Court Controversy with AI-generated Vintage Porn
Swedish vintage porn streaming website Cultipx.com, along with a Norwegian company called Multiformat stirred controversy at the Cannes Film Festival last month with an AI-generated vintage porn movie. Whilst AI-generated movies are a touchy subject anyway in the film industry, Cultpix really took it one or three stages further by using real photos taking from an erotic 70s magazine and using AI to transform them into a vintage porn movie. The move prods a hornet’s nest of legal and ethical issues, as it appears that no attempt was made to gain the consent of the models – if any of them are still alive. Cultpix were hardly measured in their response to the controversy they had provoked either, insisting that the fact that the models consented to erotic photos in the 70s made it OK, and in any case, the only test was “Is it fappable?”.
