October Sex Tech Review – ChatGPT ‘Erotica’, AI GF Regulation, 8K Porn

Week In Male Sex Tech

ChatGPT Will Allow Erotica, Causes Backlash

The big sex tech news of the month by far was the announcement by Sam Altman (dropped in casually in a Tweet about AI and mental health) that ChatGPT would offer ‘erotica’ starting from December. Despite this being something that hundreds of millions of men will be scrambling to try out as soon as it launches, the announcement received little praise and huge amounts of inevitable backlash, as well as some concern apparently from the traditional adult industry. Elon Musk’s xAI chatbot Grok had already offered ‘spicy chat’ and AI companions, but there was also speculation that the Grok Imagine video generator was allowing hardcore porn. The GrokNSFW subreddit has since been closed to new members. Meanwhile, the CEO of Microsoft’s AI division – Mustafa Suleyman – has firmly ruled out any erotic ventures by his company.

AI Companions Face Growing Regulation

There is now a rush to start regulating the AI companion industry, particularly in the USA. Earlier this month, California passed SB 243, a bill that forces AI companies to include strict guardrails on their AI chatbots, including the requirement that they frequently tell their human user (or lover) that they are only AI. However, a key part of the bill that would have banned children from using AI chatbots was vetoed by California governor Steve Newsom after big tech lobbying.

Despite this, another bill has been introduced into Congress by Republican lawmakers aiming to do much the same thing. If the GUARD act passes, AI companion sites would have to introduce strict age verification to block under 18s. This act also requires that AI chatbots repeatedly tell their user that they are only code. Meanwhile, a bill in Ohio would prevent AI or robots having the legal status of persons, and would also ban marriages between humans and AIs.

LiveJasmin Launches CutiesAI

The company behind one of the better known adult webcam sites – LiveJasmin – has launched an AI girlfriend site called CutiesAI. Keeping in with the webcam theme, videos are very much emphasised (and the examples on the home page look very impressive), as well as utilizing a cam style ‘token’ system of payment. LiveJasmin aren’t the first webcam company to venture into AI companions. Cam Soda launched CamSoda.ai last year, although it doesn’t seem to have made a huge impact.

Pornhub Adds Training Clause to New Creator Contracts

Perhaps in a nod to ChatGPT’s move into AI porn, Pornhub has updated its new user terms & conditions to include consent to use any uploaded content for AI training purposes. This could potentially give it an advantage over OpenAI given that META is currently defending a law suit which claims that it illegally trained its data on priated porn videos (https://www.livemint.com/technology/tech-news/meta-denies-using-pirated-porn-to-train-ai-says-downloads-were-for-personal-use-11762088117519.html).

YouTube Documentary on Sex Robots

Quite a stylish 90+ minute long YouTube documentary on sex robots takes about as much of a balanced stance as you could expect, with plenty of airtime for the awful feminists such as Kathleen Richardson who fear being replaced. Whilst the question of whether to put ‘weird’ men who want a sex robot into prison is earnestly debated, the women who want a male sex robot are presented as having had ‘unsatisfying’ relationships with men. You go girl.
