The Month In Sex Tech September 2026 – Intimacy Robots, Meta VR Glasses, Interactive AR Porn Game

Somnia Lab Promise “Intimacy Robots”

Somnia Lab is a startup focused exclusively on what it calls “intimacy robotics”. Whilst most “sex robot” companies are squarely pitching their humanoid robots as “companions”, Somnia Lab are rather more open and up-front about the fact that men will want to have sex with them. For example, they have released numerous video clips on social media of human employees engaging in sexual motions in order to provide motion capture training data for their humanoids. It’s unclear what impact China’s recent “crackdown” on AI companions will have on the company’s ambitions, and it has to be said, they appear to have yet to reveal a working prototype. Still, it’s certainly a name to look out for.

Stripchat Introduces “Magic Search” – Custom Searches with AI Computer Vision

Leading adult webcam platform Stripchat has introduced a new search feature that lets users enter custom search queries. The exciting aspect of this is that the results make use of “computer vision”. This technology lets the AI visually recognize and match individual cam performers to queries with physical descriptions, even when there is no corresponding category or tag. According to a Stripchat rep, it works in 50 languages and “nothing is too specific to ask for”.

Meta Announce the Meta VR Glasses for Spring 2027

Whilst no Meta Quest 4 was announced at this years annual Meta Connect jamboree, a possibly even more exciting product was revealed. The Meta VR Glasses are the world’s first VR device with a genuine glasses form factor, weighing only 100g. You do need a “puck” attached to it which contains the battery and processor, but it’s still a remarkable piece of kit that could truly usher in a vastly increased market for both VR and AR porn. That’s because it’s really an XR or mixed-reality device, as the FOV is only 70 degrees, but the glasses come with pin sharp color passthrough. This means that passthrough VR or mixed-reality porn movies will be amazing to experience on it.  At $1,300 it’s almost a 1/3 the price of the Apple Vision Pro, and with it’s stylish and lightweight form factor, should sell in far greater numbers.

Braindance Release First Interactive AR/VR Porn Scene

Pioneering 6DoF VR porn studio Braindance released their first interactive scene, and it could be the first of many. Ophelia Fae is the attractive young actress captured in full 360 volumetric glory as she teases you with a sexy dance as she removes her clothes. What happens next is up to you. It’s a fairly simple “branching” concept, but it’s a good start, and given next  year’s release of the Meta VR Glasses, I imagine Braindance will soon have competition in this space.
