Antigua bans large number of Adult .ai sites

Most of the top AI porn generators, as well as girlfriend sites, use the .ai TLD as their first choice. The wiser among them kept another domain (preferably .com) as a backup, due to the fact that .ai TLD is actually owned by the government of Antigua and until recently it didn’t even allow any porn on sites using it. Its rules have since been relaxed, but we all know that AI porn is a controversial subject, especially the use of AI tech for deepfake porn (‘reface’), or for even more illicit purposes. Last week many of the leading AI porn generators found themselves suddenly booted off their .ai domains. Sites that are largely AI companion services appear to have escaped unscathed.

As the cull of AI porn domains seemed somewhat random, it all seemed a little confusing. But one webmaster that I am in regular communication with, who runs one of the top NSFW image generators, told me that he had received an email from the Antiguan registry telling him that the domain had been permanently suspended due a request from law enforcement, alledging that the domain had been used for NCII, which is the feminist terminology for ‘non-consensual intimage image abuse’ – i.e. deepfake porn. Though this is bizarre, as the webmaster in question maintains that he does not allow any reface options at his site, and I haven’t seen any such option when reviewing and testing it. However, there are several sites openly marketing themselves as deepfake sites still using the .ai extension.

Though it seems to have caught many of these webmasters by surprise, it shouldn’t have if they pay more than a passing interest in the news and the constantly changing legal situation regarding AI porn, in particular deepfake porn and ‘undress’ tools. Antigua is actually a British Overseas Territory, in the same way as the Falkland Islands are. Britain is introducing the most draconian laws in the world (outside of perhaps South Korea) when it comes to AI porn. Although Antigua can set its own laws, it must have come under pressure to strictly police AI porn sites operating under its national .TLD.

In any case, if you’ve been left frustrated at your favorite AI porn generator suddenly disappearing, you will probably find it is now hosted on the equivalent .com domain.
